Members of the ATCM are required to fully comply with all relevant UK laws and regulations regarding the importation, possession, and use of animal and plant products derived from endangered species. This includes adherence to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), the Control of Trade in Endangered Species (Enforcement) Regulations 2018, and the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.

Furthermore, members must strictly follow the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) guidelines concerning restricted and prohibited Chinese Herbal Medicines (CHMs). Compliance with the official and up-to-date list of restricted and prohibited CHMs, as issued by the MHRA, is mandatory.

The ATCM council is dedicated to ensuring members are provided with current information on these restrictions. It is the responsibility of each member to regularly review these updates and maintain full compliance. Non-compliance may lead to legal consequences and disciplinary actions by the ATCM.
